Steam the green beans on a stove top steamer or in the microwave for 4 to 6 minutes or until crisp tender. Rinse them under cold running water in a colander. Allow to drain.
Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet, wok, or Dutch oven, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Saute the red onion, covered, until it is transparent and lightly golden, about 8 minutes.
Add the mushrooms and saute until tender.
Add the green beans and seasonings. Reheat and serve hot.
