The Arc of Washington County will soon have three new marked walking paths on its Florida Avenue campus, thanks to a grant from the Healthiest Maryland Businesses that will provide funds for permanent signage. In addition to the existing walking and fitness path located behind 1000 Florida Avenue, there will be two shorter and accessible walking routes on existing paved surfaces and one longer walking route that includes paved and unpaved surfaces.
The new walking routes include fairly long stretches that, while paved, don’t include sidewalks. This means we all need to exert an extra level of care as pedestrians and vehicles will be “sharing the road” more than ever.
We’re already working with an experienced designer and sign maker. As with the original walking and fitness path, that also received HMB funding, all of the installation work will be completed by The Arc WC’s maintenance department.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of August 2018, and then there will be a ribbon cutting in September.
More details to come!
