Extra Chunky Spaghetti
This super chunky recipe will become a family favorite. It is easy to make for hectic days or days where you want comfort food.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 onion diced
- 1 carrot peeled and sliced
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 6 ounces ground lean turkey or extra lean ground beef
- 4 cups no-salt-added tomato sauce
- 1 pound spaghetti cooked according to package directions
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti according to package directions.
- Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick pan. Saute the onion, carrots, and mushrooms until tender, about 5 minutes.
- Add the lean turkey and tomato sauce and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook until the meat is done about 8 minutes.
- Add the Italian seasoning and season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper if desired.
- Serve the chunky sauce over heated cooked spaghetti.
Notes
Chef's Tips: This recipe goes great with a strawberry almond salad.You can use drained, chopped canned kidney beans in place of the meat.
