For employees of The Arc of Washington County and their eligible family members:
Thank you for helping to keep everything on track during our Open Enrollment for the 2023 employee benefits plan year. Now that you’ve made your benefit elections, what happens next? Here’s what to expect:
First, your enrollment elections are currently being processed so that they can take effect on 1/1/2023. If you try to contact insurance carriers before your insurance takes effect, they will not be able to offer much assistance. Your patience is greatly appreciated at this time!
Payroll deductions for your 2023 benefit elections will be reflected on your first paycheck next year – that’s 1/12/2023 if you have direct deposit.
This PDF provides contact information in case you need to communicate with any of your insurance carriers. In addition to the PDF, the following information may be of use to you:
- Medical: If you enrolled in an Aetna health insurance plan, you’ll receive a new Aetna member ID card in the mail in late December.
- Pharmacy benefits: If you newly enrolled in or switched medical plans, you will also receive a card from RxBenefits. Be sure to use this card when getting prescriptions or vaccines at the pharmacy.
- Dental: Aetna does not issue member ID cards for its dental plan. Instructions for printing medical or dental ID cards are on the linked PDF. Remember, if you are newly enrolling with Aetna, you will have online access starting 1/1/2023.
- Vision: VBA does not issue member ID cards for the vision plan. Once coverage starts, in-network providers will be able to confirm your coverage by your SSN. Current members can do this now; new members will need to wait until January. You can find providers at this link: visionbenefits.com/Search.
- Health Savings Account (HSA): New HSA participants will receive a debit card. If you have had a debit card from HealthEquity in the last three years, you won’t get a new one unless your current card is expiring.
- Flexible Spending Account (FSA): New FSA participants will receive a debit card. If you already participate in the FSA, you won’t get a new card from CareFlex unless your current card is expiring.
- MetLaw: New participants will receive new member information from MetLaw. Or you can visit legalplans.com and enter access code: Legal once coverage starts.

Healthy Steps is a new wellness program that we’re introducing in 2023. If you enrolled in a medical plan sponsored by The Arc WC, you will be able to participate in this voluntary program which provides nurse-administered health evaluations and wellness education to help you adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Registration for the program will open in early January, and scheduled nurse visits will begin in mid-February. Starting in July, eligible participants will receive a $30 per pay wellness credit. Look for more information soon about Healthy Steps.
Best wishes to you and your family for a happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving!
