Ingredients

  • 2 pounds green beans fresh and trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 red onion sliced thin
  • 1 cup white mushrooms sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • pinch black pepper
  • garlic powder

Method

  1. Steam the green beans on a stove top steamer or in the microwave for 4 to 6 minutes or until crisp tender. Rinse them under cold running water in a colander. Allow to drain.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet, wok, or Dutch oven, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Saute the red onion, covered, until it is transparent and lightly golden, about 8 minutes.
  3. Add the mushrooms and saute until tender.
  4. Add the green beans and seasonings. Reheat and serve hot.

Notes

Chef's Tips: You can keep the green beans warm in the oven until ready to serve but we recommend timing them pretty close to serving.
